Known as E. Romaine Reed, died March 31, 2015 at age 86, after a short illness.
Romaine was born October 6, 1928, by midwife at home in Marquette, Michigan. First born to Leona E. and Fritz F. Jacobson, she was the first ever of her immediate family of Swedish and French-Canadian immigrants to graduate from high school. She graduated from John D Pierce High School in 1946. She received a one year scholarship to Northern College in town. Asked why she did not finish her college education, she explained that the boys had come home from World War II, now she could date. Miss Jacobson held many jobs in Marquette until she met her future husband Robert C. Reed on a blind date.

Married October 18, 1952 at St Michael's Catholic Church in Marquette, her husband watched the Michigan State College vs. University of Football between the wedding and reception. Happily married, she cried and he cheered the football team on. State won. After the wedding, the couple moved to Lansing Michigan, where Bob started work for the State of Michigan as a geologist. She gave birth to twins in 1955, Michellene Shanda and Shawn Robert.

Mrs. Reed worked for the State of Michigan in several positions; the longest was Restitution clerk for Unemployment office in Lansing. She and her husband retired in 1992. Her husband died in 1998. Mrs. Reed enjoyed traveling and visiting her family.
She is predeceased by her mother and father, Leona E Martin dit Barnabe and Fritz F. Jacobson; her husband Robert Clay Reed, brother-in-law Joseph Stupar, sister-in-law Norma Stevens and brother-in-law William Reed.

She is survived by her children Shawn Robert (Jayne) Reed of South Carolina and Michellene S. Reed. Also surviving is her aunt Eunice LaBelle of Marquette, her sister Donna Mae Stupar of Wisconsin, brother Robert P. (Aylce) Jacobson Ph.D. In addition, she is survived by one grandchild Addison 'Addie' Reed and her former daughter-in-law Nancy Creswell Reed of Aiken, South Carolina. She will be mourned by many nieces, nephews and cousins; friends and neighbors; young and young at heart. There will be a grave side service in the future in Romaine's home of Marquette Michigan, where she will be buried next to her husband and beside her parents.
