Passed away September 29, 2017 at the age of 77. He was born June 28, 1940 in Detroit, MI to Robert James and Julie Marie (De Vico) Smith. He retired from office furniture and supply sales. James was a lifetime member of the Elks and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He loved the outdoors, and his hobbies were fishing, cars, and playing the violin.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie Bates, daughters, Jennifer (Todd) Velderman of Laingsburg, Melissa (Bob) Hong of Williamston; grandchildren, Blake Velderman, Adam Lacasse and Morgan Velderman, and...
