An English and Biology dual major in college, Julie went on to teach a variety of subjects and students, and for the last 16 years has taught at Okemos High School. Julie was an accomplished poet, writer, and editor, with an awesome knowledge of her world. She was deeply connected to people all over the globe, and through her use of the internet and technology, Julie touched the whole world. Her world also revolved around the natural world, with her "Enchanted Woods" walks with niece and nephews, raising Labradors, and horses and being the super master gardener.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her uncle, Bob Fishburn.

Julie will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Ken and Jeanette; her sisters, Krista (Aaron) Graham and Amy (Randy) Potgiesser; and her beloved niece and nephews, Zach and Katie Blosser, Austyn Graham, Josh and Nathan Potgiesser.
