It is with great sadness that our family marks the passing of Bill VanEtten, who died at the age of 70.
He will be sorely missed by his many co-workers, friends and family, survived by his four children, William VanEtten III, Julie (Todd) Brown, Tristen (Ben) Dodge, Amy (Troy) Allarding, and 15 grandchildren. Also survived by his sister, Laska Bingham and girlfriend of 15 years, Patsy Feehery. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Nola VanEtten, and brother Robert VanEtten.
Bill was a graduate of Holt High School and went on to work in the carpeting business for over 25 years, both in installation and sales. He changed direction in 1991 when he moved to Massachusetts and began work in tree and landscape, where he worked for the next 13 years. Bill returned to Michigan in 2004 and continued his work, the last several years at Eagle Eye Golf Club where he absolutely loved his job and the friends he made there, and worked until just a couple weeks before his passing. He was dedicated and meticulous to detail and took great pride in his work.
Bill loved sports, especially Spartan football, basketball, and the Detroit Tigers. He loved to cheer on his grandkids at their sporting events and was usually the loudest spectator.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House of Lansing. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.greastlansing.com.
